ABOUT US

The lessons feature Ryan Gaunce (Certified Financial Planner), Kathy Gaunce (CEO) and Professor ROI (Business Owner). We understand how important your kids' future is to you and we want to help you help them get ahead, starting today. Here is why Next Gen Way was created; this is Kathy’s story:

“At the age of 24, I found myself in a daunting situation that I never saw coming. Throughout my university years, I had unwittingly amassed a staggering $140,000 of consumer debt. Being a student, credit card companies saw an opportunity and bombarded me with enticing offers. With little understanding of financial responsibility, I saw these cards as a means to attain things I desired without realizing the repercussions that awaited.

The allure of instant gratification led me down a treacherous path. Each credit card seemed like a golden ticket to a world of possibilities, and I eagerly accepted them, unaware of the mounting debt that would soon engulf me. The concept of having to repay the borrowed money wasn't something I comprehended fully at the time.

Soon enough, the excitement of swiping those cards turned into a nightmare of financial stress. The weight of the debt pressed heavily on my shoulders, and I felt suffocated by the burden of repayment. It was then that I realized the importance of understanding how to handle money wisely. My lack of financial literacy had brought me to a point where I had to confront the consequences of my actions.

Reflecting on my journey, I knew that as a parent, my experience had taught me a crucial lesson. I didn't want my children to navigate the same treacherous path of debt that I had encountered. I wanted to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions. I wanted to ensure that they understood the difference between needs and wants, the importance of budgeting, and the value of saving.

My story serves as a cautionary tale, a reminder that financial education is an essential aspect of life. As parents, it is our responsibility to guide our children on a path of financial literacy, ensuring they have the tools to make sound choices and secure a stable financial future. I'm committed to preventing others from going through what I did, so they can embark on their journey with confidence and financial wisdom. It took my husband and I seven years to pay off all the loans but we did it and now we can help others avoid the pain that we went thru.”
